The opening race of Audi's one-make cup at Hockenheim features some famous guest drivers; race is also part of the 2015 DTM Festival
As Hockenheim was busy with setup work for the coming race weekend, drivers of the Audi Sport TT Cup have successfully completed their preparations. Last Saturday, the 18 permanent entrants and six guest drivers underwent a simulated race day on the short configuration of the Hockenheimring with free practice, qualifying and also race simulation.
"Our participants from 13 different nations again proved their professionalism that day", said Rolf Michl, Project Leader of the Audi Sport TT Cup. "The final tests went smoothly and now we are even more excited about starting the race."
Former ski jumper Sven Hannabald and professional driver Tanner Foust, along with three other journalists with racing experience who are all going climb into the cockpit as guest entrants at Hockenheim, participated in the final test as well. The sixth guest entry, rallycross driver Toomas Heikkinen, however was absent due to his participation at the season opener of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Portugal.
The Audi Sport TT Cup race weekend will start today, 30th April, with a free practice. In qualifying on Friday, the participants are going to battle for the grid positions in both races. The fastest lap will be classified for round one and the second fast lap for round two.
The first race will start on Saturday. On Sunday, the 24 participants will be contesting for the second race. Both rounds will be broadcasted by live streaming on www.audi-motorsport.com.
