First BMW i8 In Singapore Delivered To Owner

Mr Alan Lim is the first to take delivery of BMW's i8 plug-in hybrid sports car

BMW Asia and Performance Motors Ltd have jointly delivered the first plug-in-hybrid BMW i8 sports car at the BMW Facility and Service Centre located at 303 Alexandra Road.

The first man in Singapore to receive the BMW i8 is Mr. Alan Lim, Managing Director, from Chuan Lim Construction Pte Ltd. During the delivery ceremony, Mr. Lim expressed his excitement in becoming the first person in Singapore to own a BMW i8. “I am elated to be the first to collect the new BMW i8 here in Singapore. I have been waiting for this remarkable vehicle to arrive after having read about the wonders and specifications of this electric car. This amazing BMW i8 is a gift to my wife”, he said.

The BMW i8, which is the first BMW plug-in hybrid sports car built with the revolutionary LifeDrive architecture and advanced lightweight material like carbon-fibre-reinforced-plastic (CFRP). It features the latest BMW EfficientDynamics technology, including a rear-mounted 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, and a hybrid synchronous electric motor that can channel power to its front wheels, during which it is capable of delivering zero tailpipe emissions. When activated concurrently, the BMW i8 is capable of producing up to 362 hp and 570 Nm that can propel the car from 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds. Yet, the BMW i8 has the fuel economy and emissions better than a small car at an amazing 47km per litre (2.1litres per 100km; as per average EU test cycle).

The BMW i8 retails at SGD$599,800.
